March in Minnesota = Spring Wardrobes!

As Minnesotans, by the time that winter is coming to a close, we are ready to switch out parkas for spring jackets in bright colors! Daune Stinson, the owner of June, wanted to name her boutique something that reminded her of this change and transition. She decided on “June” as the perfect name because she sees it as a month where people change out their wardrobes. Also, as a bonus, she wanted a simple name that was easy to spell and remember — as a juxtaposition of the untraditional spelling of her own first name.

Daune Stinson opened June back in 2008 with zero business experience and a year of retail experience in high school. During this time, there was only one baby store in town doing buying outright — the rest were doing consignment. She saw the need for luxury clothing and capitalized, it was a huge success from the start, and the rest is history.

Located in Linden Hills, June is a luxury resale shop that buys outright, making it different from other resale shops. This means that you bring your items in and they buy the pieces that will work in the shop: meaning you don’t have to be wait to be paid, or worry about following your pieces or chasing payments. Also, they take care of the pieces that don’t sell, so you don’t have to worry about them sitting in your trunk in the awkward stage in between cleaning out your closet and donating or selling them! Buying is also walk-in throughout the week, so there is no need to wait around for an appointment.

GQ says that this Spring’s trends are going to include “fresh colors” and “daring prints” (Hine, 2022). June has everything from casual streetwear to gowns, and everything in between to update your closet as we shift into Minnesota spring! Freshly located on 50th & France, June is in the heart of the shopping district and part of the retail community. They carry luxury brands including Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, and more. They also carry many contemporary labels, like Isabel Marant, Dries van Noten, Moncler, and Zimmerman. Everything is affordable priced, too, so you can look great without breaking the bank.

You can head over to June’s website and see all of their new arrivals for Spring as you update your wardrobe. They update their clothes and accessories often, so make sure to check back when you are needing some inspiration as the sun comes out and the temperature rises! Also, check out their Instagram page @juneresale for gorgeous snapshots of what they offer. You can also go in and visit June’s from Tuesday-Friday 11-5pm, or Saturday 10-5! They are newly located on 5027 France Avenue S., Minneapolis.
